Job Purpose

Reporting to the Compliance Manager & DMLRO, as Transaction Monitoring and KYC Onboarding Officer you will be focusing Transaction Monitoring and Customer Onboarding of Private and Corporate Clients.

We are looking for an individual who currently possesses the following skills:

General Duties/Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Compliance Manager & MLRO in building out processes and strengthening customer onboarding and transaction monitoring controls
  • Assist in the development and implementation of compliance risk assessment programs for the company and monitor business activities against the relevant applicable legislation and regulations
  • Accountable for understanding Consumer Duty policy and procedures; partnering and collaborating within the team to achieve set standards

Onboarding

  • The primary point of contact for queries regarding onboarding FX & money remittance clients
  • Ensuring Anti-Money Laundering legislation and Customer Due Diligence requirements are met
  • Risk assesses corporate entities including private entities, publicly listed entities, government entities, Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV), foundations and trusts
  • Apply KYC due diligence, Politically Exposed Persons and Adverse Media screening best practice
  • Complete Source of Wealth and peer reviews for corporates and individuals
  • Assist with client management to ensure the smooth operation of accounts
  • Apply enhanced Due Diligence where appropriate.
  • Review high-risk and medium-risk accounts on an ongoing basis, KYC reviews on existing customers, ensuring legislation, regulations, policies & procedures, along with due diligence requirements continue to be met continuously
  • Assess client risk categorisation
  • Liaise with account managers, back office and front staff and on occasion communicate directly with clients or their representatives
  • Escalation of potential alerts, positive matches, suspicious transactions and related activities
  • Participating in the development, testing and implementation of new and enhanced systems and processes as and when required
  • Identify and report relevant money laundering and terrorist financing typologies and trends to the MLRO
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with business functions to ensure effective cooperation, and communication, and seek opportunities to promote higher regulatory standards and awareness

Transaction Monitoring

  • Monitor transactions for suspicious behaviour
  • Complete flagged payment reviews, being accountable for payments being signed off
  • Request and review payment invoices, SoF & SoW information
  • Ensure timely closure of alerts
  • Apply predefined rules and thresholds to flag suspicious transactions
  • Escalate alerts and notify where appropriate to MLRO
  • Support any subsequent investigation arising from an alert.

Qualification & Experience

  • 2+ years’ experience in first-line customer onboarding and transaction monitoring in a similar role in banking and/or fintech in the payment services sector
  • Proven experience in reviewing investigation flags and alerts in line with pre-defined risk thresholds
  • Practical and up-to-date understanding of regulatory requirements relating to Financial Crime, JMLSG and Wolfsberg guidance on customer screening and transaction monitoring
  • Production and reporting of data metrics/MI to support weekly and monthly reviews, supporting management intervention where required
  • Intermediate level – Microsoft Office suite.
  • Industry accreditations and completion of training in relation to Financial Crime/AML
  • ICA or ACMAS qualification is preferred
  • Qualification in Law or Economics, ideally with some experience in financial services
  • Previous experience of working with compliance, financial crime or fraud detection tools (eg: Passfort, Smartsearch, RDC, Experian & CIFAS preferable, Comply Advantage, LexisNexis)
  • Experience using SQL or similar tools (would be useful but not essential)
