Job Purpose

Operating within a designated payments team consisting of 5 people processing high-volume transactions, FX settlements, reconciliations and cash allocations for our international payments business.

Person Specification

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a fundamental role in our Payment Operations function. You will be keen to get involved with all aspects of inbound and outbound payments, growing your payments knowledge along with settlements, reconciliation and FX. This role provides amazing scope for both strategic and operational self-development.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Allocation of incoming and outbound payments accurately and within SLA’s across a range of providers
  • Processing FX, settlements and performing reconciliations
  • Act as a key internal point of contact for all payment-related queries
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written),
  • Contributing to identifying and implementing operational efficiencies
  • Ensure all processes adhere to legal/regulatory requirements, internal policies and guidelines
  • Escalating outstanding payments within SWIFT, BACS, CHAPS to resolve transaction queries
  • Escalate payment issues where necessary to the point of resolution
  • Support the identification and management of service-affecting incidents

Qualification & Experience

  • Knowledge and experience of payment platforms within a high volume, high value environment
  • Knowledge of handling payment exceptions and manual payments
  • Knowledge of regulatory framework and AML procedures
  • A positive “can do” attitude and a positive attitude to change
  • Good level of Excel
  • Proficient at establishing credibility quickly and building relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Possess excellent analytical skills, with the ability to think independently and draw conclusions
  • Learning mindset and willingness to develop key skills and competencies
  • Ability to work well under pressure and maintaining high accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • 1-2 years of proven experience in a Payments or Back Office role for a financial services business, consumer lending business or retail bank
